Abstract

Community empowerment is aimed at empowering the TQH in West Sumatra to become a transformative Islamic educational institution. This empowerment is based on Community Based Research with the method of Focus Group Discussion (FGD) activities. The FGD models applied are the Single Focus Group (SFG) model and the Mini Focus Group (MFG) model. Data were obtained through discussions in FGD activities and questionnaires. The data is processed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the activities are: First, the TQH leaders focus more on memorizing and tahsin the Qur'an, moral development has not become the main program. Second, TQH teachers are ready to carry out moral development in TQH activities, but the readiness of these teachers has not been optimally utilized by TQH leaders through the programs created. Third, the Surau Lakuak TQH strategy in Solok Regency can be used as a transformative TQH role model. This TQH has succeeded in educating students to improve their ability to read and memorize the Qur'an which is in line with the moral formation of their students. Each student becomes a preacher for his family. TQH activities are very popular with students and are free, so they get the support of parents and donors
