Abstract

Today, although we are not fully recovered from of the Covid-19 outbreak, all countries are trying to rise from the adversity caused by the Covid-19 outbreak. The most affected people are vulnerable groups, including female headed households. The female headed household in this situation face double burden as the head of the household who is responsible for the life needs of her family members. Second, the burden on female household heads increases due to fundamental changes in aspects of life, for example in the economic sector where many workers were affected by layoffs during Covid-19. Such changes raise new problems where female headed household are also very vulnerable to psychological problems in dealing with these difficult times. Through community service activities as part of the responsibility of the university, Faculty of Islamic studies, have a significant role in helping vulnerable groups remain able to survive. Higher education has human resources and knowledge that can be applied directly in the community. We used the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach to explore the potential and assets of female headed household in Sayung, Demak district Central Java. Involving twenty-five female headed households the ABCD approach helps female headed household identify their potential and assets and the environment that can be used as capital to build economic resilience after the COVID-19 pandemic.
